Several dozen dead animals found in Ķemeru National Park
Environmental inspectors discovered multiple dead animals in the Dunduri meadows of Ķemeru National Park, primarily older animals that had exceeded their biological age thresholds.
In Ķemeru National Park's Dunduri meadows, environmental inspectors from the Nature Conservation Agency of Latvia reported finding a significant number of dead animals. On Monday, they confirmed the deaths of primarily older animals, with social media user Arigo Toro (formerly Aldis Gobzems) claiming to have counted 41 dead animals. The inspections indicate that the mortality observed is consistent with normal natural processes, rather than an alarming incident.
The Nature Conservation Agency highlighted that no violations regarding nature protection have been found in the area. According to their assessment, the death of these animals, predominantly older individuals, should be regarded as a normal occurrence within the life cycle of animals rather than a crisis situation. It eliminates concerns over any immediate ecological threats in the park related to these findings.
Furthermore, any discussions surrounding animal welfare will need to be evaluated by the appropriate authorities, specifically the Food and Veterinary Service in Latvia, as emphasized by the agency. The situation sheds light on the natural cycle of life and death within wildlife populations, particularly in environments like national parks, where animal populations can fluctuate due to natural aging processes.
