AADE: 1.9 million businesses included in the new European Classification Codes

The Independent Authority for Public Revenue in Greece has automated the matching of existing Activity Codes for 1.9 million businesses according to new European classifications, issuing 9.5 million new codes.

The Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) in Greece has successfully completed the automated alignment of existing Activity Codes (KAD) for approximately 1.9 million businesses. This initiative implemented a new European classification framework for economic activities, producing a significant total of 9.5 million new KADs to ensure compliance with updated European statistical standards. The process aimed to streamline categorization and compliance for businesses across Greece as they transition to the new classification system.

From now on, the digital applications related to the Registry have returned to full operation, with businesses advised to check the new codes assigned to them. The AADE has emphasized the importance of verifying codes to ensure that each business's activities are accurately represented within the classification framework. For businesses that need to update their activity information, the AADE has established a grace period until June 1, 2026, during which updates can be made through the myAADE digital portal without incurring fines.

This update is crucial for businesses as it enables them to maintain compliance with regulatory standards within the European Union. By providing avenues for corrections and ensuring clarity about updated codes, the AADE is helping businesses adapt to the new requirements. This development reflects Greece's efforts to modernize its business regulatory environment in alignment with European standards, aiming to facilitate smoother economic operations and statistical reporting for both businesses and regulatory bodies in the region.
