In a significant operation dubbed Anomalia, the Federal Police of Brazil apprehended Fabrizio Romano, a delegate of the Federal Police, as well as Alessandro Pitombeira Carracena, the former state secretary of sports for Rio de Janeiro, on allegations related to influence peddling in favor of an international drug trafficker. This operation aims to dismantle a criminal network believed to be engaged in the negotiation of undue advantages and the selling of influence to promote the interests of drug trafficking figures.

The operation also targets Thiego Raimundo dos Santos, better known as TH Jóias, who is a notorious drug dealer with reported ties to the Comando Vermelho, a major criminal organization in Brazil. Santos, previously an elected state deputy, was arrested last year and now faces multiple charges including arms trafficking, money laundering, and corruption. His connections and activities have raised significant concerns regarding the infiltration of organized crime within Brazilian political and law enforcement systems.

The Supreme Federal Court has mandated the execution of four preventive arrest warrants and three search warrants as part of this operation, indicating the seriousness of the charges and the scale of the criminal activities under investigation.
