Madona to Host World Championship Motocross Event for the Second Year in a Row
Madona, Latvia will host a World Championship motocross event for the second consecutive year this summer, featuring both motorcycle and quad categories.
This summer, the "Smeceres sils" motocross track in Madona, Latvia, will hold a round of the World Championship for sidecar motocross for the second year in a row, along with its first quad event. Scheduled for July 25-26, this event builds on the success of last year's inaugural round, where Latvian competitors Daniels and Bruno Lielbārži triumphed. Additionally, in the European Championship for quads, Reinis Bicāns secured a silver medal, and Kārlis Neija brought home a bronze.
The Lielbārži twins expressed their excitement as the motocross season approaches, noting that only two weeks remain until the first start of the French championship. They have been training rigorously, having taken part in a training camp in Spain where they improved their riding skills and physical fitness. Along with their personal development, they are also focusing on upgrading their machinery to ensure they are well-prepared for the competitive season ahead. They emphasized that their home event in Madona is one of the highlights of the season, which makes this year particularly special.
Last season, the Lielbārži brothers finished fourth in the overall ranking for the World Championship, making their performance at this event even more significant as they aim to better their standings. The upcoming competition is anticipated not only as a sporting event but also as a celebration of motocross in Latvia, drawing attention to the local community and boosting local tourism during the summer months.
