A 17-year-old on a motorcycle was struck by an Environmental Police truck while being pursued by the police in Populina, Brazil.
On Saturday afternoon, a 17-year-old teenager riding a motorcycle was involved in a collision with a truck from the Environmental Police in Populina, São Paulo. The incident was captured on a security camera, showing the impact that violently threw the youth into the asphalt. The police reported that they were patrolling the area and noticed the teenager allegedly attempting to perform a stunt on his motorcycle as he entered the road, prompting the truck driver to maneuver towards him in an effort to approach the situation.
The teenage victim was later assisted by the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) and transported to the Santa Casa de Fernandópolis, where he underwent surgery. However, details regarding his current health condition remain unspecified at this time, creating concern among the community and emphasizing the risks associated with such encounters between youth and law enforcement.
In response to the incident, the Secretary of Public Security (SSP) announced that the Military Police is examining the security footage and investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision. Should any misconduct in the police approach be established, appropriate measures will then be taken, which raises questions about police procedures and accountability in similar situations.
