15 Years Since the Fukushima Nuclear Accident... What Happened with the Restart of the World's Largest Nuclear Plant, Kashiwazaki?
Citizens protested outside the Japanese Prime Minister's office against the restart of the Kashiwazaki nuclear power plant, expressing concerns over unresolved issues from the Fukushima disaster.
On the evening of the 6th, a somber melody echoed in the streets outside the office of Japan's Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide, where around 30 members of the citizens' group 'Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Plant Restart Protest' gathered to sing protest songs. Their lyrics conveyed a deep sense of shame and urgency, stating, 'Don't take away our future; I am embarrassed for my hometown.' The protesters emphasized that the Fukushima disaster was not over, and they called for an immediate halt to the restart of the Kashiwazaki plant, which had been idled since the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake.
