Dentist arrested in Paraná for the rape of children and adolescents abused family members and patients, says police
A dentist in Paraná has been arrested for allegedly abusing young patients and family members, following a lengthy investigation.
Luis Alberto Pohlmann Júnior, a dentist in Paraná, Brazil, has been arrested on suspicion of sexually abusing children and adolescents. According to the Civil Police, investigations reveal that Pohlmann committed these heinous acts not only on his patients but also on family members during family gatherings at his property in Teixeira Soares, a small town in the state. The police have been investigating him for five months, prompted by reports from the first victim in October 2025, which led to multiple other victims coming forward.
Six women now between the ages of 27 and 40 have come forward to accuse Pohlmann of abuse occurring during their childhoods and teenage years. They have described a prolonged period of silence due to shame, emphasizing the psychological burden of carrying their traumas alone for so long. The collective bravery of these survivors has shed light on Pohlmann's actions, which deeply impacted their lives and reflected a significant breach of trust between a healthcare provider and vulnerable individuals.
This incident not only highlights the grave issues surrounding child abuse and the importance of reporting such crimes but also raises questions about the safety of patients in medical settings. As the investigation continues, the focus will be on ensuring justice for the victims and preventing such abuses from happening in the future, while also examining the accountability of medical professionals regarding patient safety.
