Rainfall knocks down trees and causes flooding in roads of João Pessoa
Heavy rainfall in João Pessoa led to fallen trees and flooding, causing traffic disruptions on multiple roads in the city.
On the morning of Monday, October 9th, significant rainfall in João Pessoa resulted in fallen trees and flooding along several roads, leading to traffic complications for commuters. Specifically, on Avenida Sanhauá, a tree fell onto the side of a wall, causing a slowdown in traffic as it obstructed part of the roadway. Local authorities reported a slow moving traffic jam in the area due to clean-up efforts.
Another incident was noted at Barreira do Cabo Branco, where a fallen tree blocked one lane of traffic. The Autarquia Especial Municipal de Limpeza Urbana (Emlur) responded promptly, removing the tree and allowing traffic to resume its normal flow shortly after. Residents and commuters have complained about the inconvenience caused by the inclement weather as they navigate through affected routes.
Additionally, Avenida Maximiano Figueiredo experienced significant flooding which left several vehicles stranded due to mechanical issues caused by the water accumulation. The situation has raised concerns about urban infrastructure in João Pessoa, as excessive rainfall frequently leads to traffic disruptions, prompting discussions on the need for improved drainage systems and preventive measures to handle heavy storms effectively.
