A passenger was shot following a dispute within a train of the Diamond Line 8 in Jandira, Brazil, early on a Monday morning.
On the morning of Monday, October 9, at approximately 7:30 AM, a shooting incident occurred on the Diamond Line 8 train at the Sagrado Coração station in Jandira, Greater São Paulo. The confrontation escalated into violence when a man, also a passenger, drew a firearm and shot another passenger following a dispute. After the shooting, the perpetrator fled the scene through the railway tracks.
The victim, a 45-year-old man, received immediate assistance from the train service's emergency team on site and was conscious while being transported to a hospital. Via Mobilidade, the company operating the train service, confirmed the incident and provided details on the emergency response. They mentioned that the victim was provided first aid at the station before being taken to medical care via rescue services.
Law enforcement, specifically the Polícia Militar, was summoned to handle the situation and is currently working to locate and apprehend the shooter. The incident raises concerns regarding safety on public transportation in Brazil, particularly in areas with previous reports of violence and crime, underscoring the need for enhanced security measures in train systems.
