Ushuaia adds credit and debit card payments for bus travel: how does it work?
Ushuaia has introduced the option to pay for bus rides using credit and debit cards, in addition to the existing SUBE card system.
The city of Ushuaia has made public transportation more accessible by allowing payments with various card options, including credit and debit cards, alongside the already established SUBE card. This new payment method was announced over the weekend by the municipal company Ushuaia Integral Sociedad del Estado (UISE) through their social media channels. The company installed new validators on buses to support these payments, enhancing the travel experience for passengers.
According to UISE, the introduction of these payment options aims to facilitate a quicker and modern travel experience. Residents and tourists in the capital of Tierra de Fuego can now use several payment methods, including Visa and Mastercard credit and debit cards, prepaid cards, and even mobile phones or watches equipped with NFC technology. Additionally, QR code payments through the SUBE card are also supported, providing travelers with multiple ways to pay for their bus rides.
This initiative reflects a broader trend in urban transportation systems towards integrating digital payment options to improve convenience and accessibility for users. By modernizing the payment system, Ushuaia is not only adapting to technological advancements but also aiming to enhance the overall public transportation experience for its users, possibly leading to increased ridership and customer satisfaction in the long run.
