NordVPN has introduced a call protection feature specifically designed for Android users in Lithuania in response to the increasing prevalence of scam calls globally. According to the Global Anti-Scam Alliance (GASA), over half of adults worldwide have encountered fraud, with 23% losing money as a result. In Lithuania alone, between January and September 2025, individuals reportedly lost 20 million euros to scammers, emphasizing a critical need for enhanced security measures against these types of threats.

The product manager at NordVPN, Domininkas Virbickas, highlighted that the new feature aims to safeguard users' digital lives further by addressing threats beyond just online browsing. The call protection feature will notify users of potential scam attempts before they answer their phones, thereby allowing them to stay vigilant and better resist social engineering attacks or other scams that could lead to financial losses.

As phone fraud continues to rise, both locally and globally, this initiative reflects a growing awareness of the need for robust privacy and control measures in the digital age. The ability to identify potential threats before engaging in a call can significantly enhance user security, providing a necessary shield against increasingly sophisticated fraud tactics employed by scammers.
