Seven killed in IDF strikes in Gaza, including two women and two girls

The Gaza Health Ministry has reported that seven people were killed in Israeli airstrikes, including two women and a twelve-year-old girl.

The Health Ministry in Gaza has announced that seven individuals were killed and 17 others injured in Israeli airstrikes on Sunday. Among the deceased are two women, one of whom was a journalist, and a twelve-year-old girl who was shot in central Gaza. The strikes reportedly also resulted in fatalities in other areas of Gaza, including the city of Khan Younis and the al-Lahiya neighborhood. While the Israeli Defense Forces acknowledged the deaths of two individuals they described as Hamas operatives in western Gaza City, they did not address the circumstances surrounding the deaths of the other five victims.

The journalist who lost her life, Amal Shmali, was affiliated with Qatar Radio and was killed from shellfire in the al-Nuseirat refugee camp. The Palestinian Journalists’ Bloc mourned her passing, highlighting the dangers faced by reporters in conflict zones. Shmali’s death is a somber reminder of the vulnerability of female journalists in war-torn regions, reiterating accusations against Israel regarding its actions against Palestinian women and journalists who continue to perform their duties despite the ongoing violence.

Since a ceasefire was implemented in October 2025, the Health Ministry in Hamas-controlled Gaza reports a total of 648 individuals killed, escalating the death toll to over 72,133 since the outbreak of hostilities on October 7, 2023. This continuing loss of life underscores the humanitarian crisis facing the population in the region and raises global concern regarding the repercussions of the ongoing conflict, as the toll includes numerous civilians, including women and children.
