From Moscow to St. Petersburg: testing a drastic method of combat
Residents report disruptions in messaging services and internet access coinciding with alerts about drone threats in the Leningrad region.
Residents in St. Petersburg have been experiencing significant disruptions in communication services, with many reporting failures in their messaging applications and inability to access banking services and specific websites, leading them to rely solely on a 'white list' of accessible sites. These issues coincided with a warning from the Governor of Leningrad region, Alexander Drozdenko, regarding drone threats which correlated with the complaints of over 500 residents about the interruptions they were facing. Later on, Drozdenko announced the neutralization of one drone. While this prompted an investigation into service disruptions, the St. Petersburg authorities have not confirmed any mobile internet restrictions stemming from these incidents, in contrast to earlier reports from Moscow where mobile internet services were deactivated for the fifth time due to similar drone-related threats.
