New medical documents will be included in the e-health system
Latvia plans to integrate new digital medical documents into its e-health system to improve accessibility and resource efficiency in healthcare.
Latvia's Ministry of Health has proposed amendments to the Cabinet of Ministers' regulations to incorporate digital circulation of medical documents, such as consulting conclusions and operation descriptions, into the e-health system. The primary aim of these amendments is to enhance the digitalization of health data and ensure its accessibility in the e-health system, thereby promoting more effective utilization of healthcare resources. Additionally, the changes will clarify the rights of the National Health Service (NVD) to process specific data stored within the system for fulfilling its assigned duties as stipulated by patient rights legislation.
Currently, the existing regulations do not include the submission or availability of consulting conclusions or operation descriptions in the e-health system. The Ministry of Health emphasizes that these documents are essential parts of a patient's medical history, and centralizing their availability would benefit both patients and healthcare professionals. The proposed amendments will introduce new attachments to the regulations to facilitate this integration, ultimately leading to improved patient care.
This initiative aligns with global trends towards digital health solutions, as many countries are seeking to modernize their healthcare systems through technology. By implementing these changes, Latvia aims to enhance the efficiency and accessibility of its healthcare services, addressing the needs of both patients and providers in a rapidly evolving health landscape.
