Notification on March 10
Korea's media sector saw significant changes and initiatives announced on March 9, including appointments and educational support programs.
On March 9, the Korea Press Foundation announced the appointment of Lee Sang-ho as the head of the newspaper distribution agency. Prior to this position, Lee served as a senior reporter for the Kyunghyang Shinmun in its national social affairs department and held various editorial roles. His appointment comes after a thorough selection process and necessary approvals from the Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, with a term set for three years.
Additionally, the Friends of Mountains and Nature organization will host a monthly ecological empathy seminar from April 1 to October 7, every first Wednesday, featuring Dr. Han Sang-hoon, a former specialist on the ecological survey team of the Ministry of Environment. The seminars will take place in the Sky Lounge on the 8th floor of the Hair Ground in Seongsu, Seoul, aiming to spread awareness about environmental issues among the participants.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs announced a new project for 'Children's Fruit Snacks,' which will roll out this month in phases according to local government conditions. This initiative will provide weekly snacks made from domestic fruits and vegetables to approximately 600,000 elementary school students participating in care and education programs for grades 1 and 2. These announcements demonstrate ongoing efforts to enhance media leadership, educational support, and health initiatives for young students in South Korea.
