In light of increasing tensions in the Middle East, Britain has decided to temporarily withdraw some employees from its embassy in Lebanon, along with their families. The British Foreign Office stated that this precautionary measure was necessary, yet emphasized that the embassy operations in Lebanon would continue as normal. This decision reflects growing concerns regarding safety in the region amid ongoing conflicts involving the US, Israel, and Iran.

Australia has also taken similar steps, urging the families of its diplomats in the UAE to leave the country. Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong mentioned that the security situation has deteriorated, prompting the need for updated travel advice discouraging Australians from traveling to the UAE. So far, over 1,700 Australians have returned home on commercial flights from the UAE, highlighting the urgency of the matter.

Before the conflict began ten days ago, there were approximately 115,000 Australians in the Middle East. The Australian government, recognizing the potential risks posed by the ongoing geopolitical tensions, is acting swiftly to safeguard its citizens and diplomatic staff, showcasing a proactive approach in response to an unpredictable and volatile environment in the region.
