"Two hours of political propaganda for the No". Students from Ivrea report ahead of the referendum

Students from the Olivetti Institute in Ivrea criticized a school event that they perceive as biased political propaganda against a justice referendum.

Students at the Olivetti Institute in Ivrea have raised concerns about what they claim to be political propaganda being introduced into their school during class hours. In an anonymous letter to the local secretariat of the Fratelli d’Italia party, they denounced an event titled ‘Constitution, Types of Referendums, and Criminal Process’ organized on February 18, aimed at classes of fourth and fifth years. The students highlighted that the theme of the event seemed to be closely related to the upcoming referendum on the separation of careers in the justice system, scheduled for the end of March.

The letter explains that they expected a balanced discussion on the referendum; however, they felt that the presentation was heavily skewed towards advocating for a 'No' vote. They expressed dismay at the use of school time for what they perceived as a political agenda, arguing that such activities should not be integrated into educational settings. The students’ concerns underline the importance of neutrality in educational environments, particularly concerning political discourse and electoral matters.

The implications of this event may spark broader discussions about political education in schools and the appropriate boundaries of educational content. As the referendum approaches, reactions from various political parties and education authorities could further shape the narrative surrounding this incident, influencing public opinion and engagement in the political process among younger demographics.
