Nibuy, a talented singer-songwriter, emerged victorious in the first-ever '2026 Asia New Beat' Korea competition, defeating the runner-up rock duo Red C. The finals, which took place at the Sohyang Art Hall in Busan on the 4th of this month, showcased the top ten bands selected through online evaluations and preliminary rounds in Seoul and Busan. Nibuy's creative performance, backed by his education in practical music from Hoseo University, garnered high acclaim from the panel of judges.
During the competition, participating teams presented original works across various genres, including rock, alternative, and pop rock, earning applause from both the audience and the judges. The event employed a fan-involved format, combining professional evaluations with online voting via the music application. This innovative setup allowed fans to actively participate in the judging process, elevating the excitement of the event.
The event's organizers, Star Nest, emphasized that the Asia New Beat initiative aims to create a platform for young Asian musicians to exchange ideas and advance to the global stage. As winners, Nibuy and the runner-up Red C will represent Korea in the Asia finals on the 21st of this month at JJ Hall in Bangkok, Thailand. This exciting event occurs alongside the 'Go On Ground Music Festival,' featuring performances from indie bands representing Korea, China, Thailand, Vietnam, and Malaysia, each showcasing their music for 30 minutes during the competition.
