The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed a bandit attack in Sokoto State resulting in one death and five abductions, alongside a separate incident in Kwara State where two individuals were also abducted.
The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed that one person was killed and five others abducted during a bandit attack in Mallamawar Yari village, located in Rabah Local Government Area of Sokoto State. This incident occurred on a Saturday night, causing widespread panic among the local residents as armed men invaded the community. It has been reported that in addition to the fatalities, three women and two men were among those kidnapped, highlighting the ongoing struggles with banditry in the region.
In a separate, yet similarly alarming incident, suspected bandits also abducted a housewife and her child in Ndeji village, situated in the Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State. This attack underscores the growing issue of insecurity and violence experienced by rural communities across Nigeria, where banditry and similar crimes have surged in frequency and severity in recent months.
Authorities have been quick to respond, with the Sokoto State Police Command's spokesperson, DSP Ahmed Rufai, clarifying misinformation regarding the attackers disguising themselves. He confirmed the true nature of the attack and emphasized that police and other security forces are actively working to address the crisis, although the fear in these communities continues to be palpable as they face the threat of further aggression from bandits.
