The Edo State Police Command has successfully apprehended three individuals suspected of kidnapping, one of whom is a national from the Niger Republic. The arrests occurred following an increase in reported kidnapping incidents across the Edo Central Senatorial District, prompting the police to increase their operational presence in the area. The public relations officer of the police, Eno Ikoedem, disclosed that the operations not only led to the capture of the suspects but also resulted in the recovery of weapons from the gang's hideout in a forested area. The Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, had previously deployed resources to the area for six days in February 2026 to evaluate the security challenges and reposition police personnel to enhance the response to criminal activities.
