PSC rejects N5m promotion bribery claim, considers lawsuit

The Police Service Commission of Nigeria has refuted claims that senior police officers paid bribes for promotion, considering legal action against the source of the allegations.

The Police Service Commission (PSC) in Nigeria has strongly denied allegations reported by Sahara Reporters stating that senior police officers allegedly paid bribes of N5 million each to obtain promotions to the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police. The PSC described these claims as unfounded and a malicious attempt to damage the reputation of both the commission and the Nigeria Police Force. In an official statement, Torty Kalu, the Head of Protocol and Public Affairs for the PSC, emphasized that the promotion process adhered to established procedures and guidelines.
