A passenger went into the plane's toilet, lit a 'bidi' and started smoking... Panic among passengers
A passenger on an Akasa Air flight from Delhi to Goa has been arrested for smoking a 'bidi' in the airplane toilet, causing panic among other travelers.
On a recent Akasa Air flight from Delhi to Goa, a passenger named Ashish was arrested for allegedly smoking a 'bidi' (a type of hand-rolled cigarette) in the aircraft's toilet. This incident raised serious safety concerns not only for the passengers but also for the crew members on board. Reports indicate that Ashish was traveling on flight QP1625 when he chose to engage in this dangerous and prohibited behavior in the confined space of the airplane's restroom.
The airline filed a complaint detailing how Ashish's actions posed a significant risk during the flight. In addition to smoking, he was in possession of a lighter, which further heightened safety fears for those onboard. Airports and airlines have stringent regulations against smoking, especially in-flight, given the potential hazards that could lead to severe consequences. The crew's prompt action and the subsequent report to the authorities ensured that the incident was taken seriously and addressed immediately.
As a result, Ashish has been charged under the provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the Civil Aviation (Safety) Act, reflecting the serious nature of his actions. The Goa police are currently conducting an investigation into the matter, and the airline has confirmed the occurrence of this incident, underlining their commitment to maintaining safety standards during their flights.
