President Yoon: "We must be selective in reforms... Be wary of burning down the entire house"

President Yoon Suk-yeol emphasizes that necessary reforms should not indiscriminately target everyone to avoid unnecessary damage to individuals and system.

On the 9th, President Yoon Suk-yeol addressed the need for careful reform implementation, warning against broad condemnations that could lead to the loss of morale among many innocent members of society. He stated, "Even if we need to reform, we should avoid lumping everyone together and subjecting them to blame, which would result in burning the whole house down just to catch a flea." Yoon highlighted the importance of accurately identifying problems and being mindful in addressing them, especially in terms of judicial, labor, economic, and media reforms.

Yoon also reiterated comments made on the evening of the 7th, asserting that just because the ruling party has come to power, it does not mean they can act freely without responsibility. He stressed the need for an organized and substantial approach to reforms, indicating that even complex reforms should not be abandoned, though they need to be approached cautiously to minimize conflict and impact on the general public.

In discussing judicial reforms, Yoon acknowledged that while some organizations face allegations of corruption and misconduct, these issues often stem from a small minority rather than a general failing of all public officials. He defended the integrity of many judges, asserting that despite some political influences leading to bias, there are far more judges who courageously make decisions based on law and conscience, thereby upholding justice and human rights in a complex environment.
