Regained the world record: - A unique athlete

Jacob Kiplimo set a new world record for the half marathon with a time of 57:20 in Lisbon.

Jacob Kiplimo, a 25-year-old athlete from Uganda, has reclaimed the half marathon world record, clocking in a remarkable time of 57 minutes and 20 seconds during a race in Lisbon. His average pace of 22.08 kilometers per hour highlights not only his speed but also his endurance as he competed against a challenging field. Early in the race, Kiplimo sensed that breaking the world record was within reach after completing the first ten kilometers in an impressive 27 minutes flat. As the race progressed, he managed to maintain his speed and even finished strong, despite facing trials in the latter half of the race.

Kiplimo's achievement comes after a previously established record in the same course in 2021, where he finished in 57:31. His latest performance saw him outpace the Ethiopian runner Yomif Kejelcha, who had momentarily taken the title in Valencia three years ago by running just a second faster than Kiplimo's earlier record. Jann Post, an athletics commentator from NRK, emphasized Kiplimo's exceptional talent, labeling him as a "unique runner" in the field of athletics. This record-breaking feat not only showcases Kiplimo's remarkable abilities but also sets a new standard for future competitors in the half marathon distance.
