In the recent municipal elections, Florian Hartmann of the SPD (Social Democratic Party) has successfully defended his position as the mayor of Dachau, securing 56.8% of the vote against six other candidates. This victory marks Hartmann's third term in office, making him one of the longest-serving mayors in Dachau's history, surpassed only by Lorenz Reitmeier. The election saw a voter turnout of 59.3%, which is an increase of almost five percentage points compared to the previous election. The atmosphere was celebratory among Hartmann's supporters, who gathered at Café Zaunkönig to celebrate the results soon after they were announced.
