In the Starnberg district, mayoral elections resulted in surprises, with a second round of voting required in three municipalities.
The recent mayoral elections in the Starnberg district have revealed several unexpected outcomes, leading to a scenario where second rounds of voting are necessary in three municipalities. Notably, incumbent mayor Rudolph Haux from the FDP suffered a significant defeat in Krailling, securing only 24.2% of the votes. The runoff will occur between Stefan Göttlinger of the CSU, who received 45.5%, and Ricarda Weimar of the Greens with 30.3%. In Wörthsee, the independent candidate Sassa Bäumler is leading with 39.7%, followed closely by Jakob Aumiller from the CSU with 34.1%. Selina Jursch from the Free Voters came in third with 26.2%, missing the chance for a runoff.
In Berg, the current mayor Rupert Steigenberger, who has been in office since 2020, garnered only 39.9% on election day, necessitating a second vote against the candidate from the Bürgergemeinschaft, Sebastian Gastl, who received 30.4%. The context of the elections indicates a shifting political landscape in the region, with notable challenges being posed to established incumbents. Among others, candidates from smaller parties such as the Free Voters and the Greens are demonstrating significant local support, which could influence future political dynamics within the Starnberg district.
