The Revenge of Julián Santero: He Won Again in Turismo Carretera After a Race Full of Interruptions in Río Negro

Julián Santero claimed victory in the second race of the Turismo Carretera championship in Viedma, marking BMW's first win in this traditional Argentine motorsport series after a chaotic race with multiple interruptions.

Julián Santero arrived in Viedma eager for redemption, having faced disqualification in the previous season's opening race despite finishing first. In the second race of the Turismo Carretera championship, he dominated the event from start to finish, securing a much-anticipated victory amidst a whirlwind of race interruptions and accidents. His win marked a significant milestone for BMW, as it was their first triumph in Argentina's most traditional motorsport category.

The race was chaotic, featuring four neutralizations and many wrecked cars, including that of reigning champion Agustín Canapino. Most of the incidents occurred in the middle to back of the pack, whereas Santero quickly established himself in the lead. He effectively defended his position during each restart, exhibiting excellent control and skill that allowed him to maintain his advantage until the very end and ascend to the top of the podium.

Completing the podium alongside Santero were Mauricio Lambiris, who executed a remarkable overtaking maneuver to finish second, and Elio Craparo, who fell from second to third place during the final stages of the race. This result not only reflects Santero's exceptional driving abilities but also highlights the intense competition present within the Turismo Carretera championship, ensuring that the stakes remain high for upcoming races in the season.
