The Indian cricket team celebrated a significant victory, winning the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 with a commanding performance, defeating New Zealand by 96 runs in the final held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on March 8. India set a challenging target of 256 runs, which New Zealand could not meet, finishing their innings at 159 runs, marking Indiaโ€™s second consecutive T20 World Cup win. Prior to this, India had defeated South Africa in the final of the 2024 T20 World Cup in Barbados, further solidifying their dominance in the format.

Following the grand finale, both the winning team India and the runner-up New Zealand received substantial cash rewards. The victorious Indian team was awarded $3 million (approximately 27.5 crore INR), reflecting their remarkable achievement in the tournament. In contrast, New Zealand, still in pursuit of their first T20 World Cup title, received $1.6 million (about 14.67 crore INR) for their efforts in the final match.

Additionally, teams that reached the semifinals, England and South Africa, were rewarded with $0.79 million (around 7.24 crore INR), while teams finishing in the fifth to twelfth positions received $0.38 million (approximately 3.48 crore INR). These financial rewards underscore the competition's growing significance and the financial incentives associated with success in international cricket tournaments.
