4-year-old child drowns in the São Francisco River at the border of Sergipe and Alagoas
A 4-year-old boy drowned in the São Francisco River between the municipalities of Brejo Grande (SE) and Piaçabuçu (AL) in Brazil.
On Sunday afternoon, a tragic incident occurred on the São Francisco River, which marks the boundary between the Brazilian states of Sergipe and Alagoas, when a 4-year-old boy drowned. The child had been on a boat that departed from Penedo (AL) and was accompanying family members. Upon docking, relatives quickly realized that the boy was missing.
Emergency services from the Sergipe Fire Department initiated a search for the child. Tragically, after some time, the boy was found but was unresponsive and in critical condition. He was attended to by the Mobile Emergency Service (Samu) and rushed to the Casa Maternal Mãe Luíza municipal hospital in Piaçabuçu. Unfortunately, the hospital confirmed that the child did not survive the incident.
This heartbreaking event highlights the dangers associated with water activities, especially for young children.
