PST: No arrests made following embassy explosion

An explosion occurred near the American embassy in Oslo, and the police are investigating without any suspects identified yet.

In the early hours of Sunday, an explosion took place just outside the American embassy in Oslo, Norway. The police are actively investigating the incident; however, they have not arrested any suspects as of now. Bjørn Willy Wold from the PST (Police Security Service) commented that the situation remains serious but emphasized that no injuries were reported from the blast. He also noted that it’s reasonable to consider the explosion in light of the current security political climate.

Wold indicated that the investigation is being led by local Oslo police, and all hypotheses regarding the motive and responsible parties remain open. He explained that while the overarching threat level in Norway is still moderate, the threat environment is perceived as complex and unpredictable. The PST representative added that their analysis includes the possibility that the explosion could be linked to events taking place in the Middle East, but it is too early to draw any definitive conclusions.

This incident raises concerns about security surrounding diplomatic missions and the potential for violence linked to international conflicts. With no arrests made and a thorough investigation underway, the authorities are closely monitoring the situation, leaving the public and diplomatic community alert to further possible developments in the security landscape of Oslo and beyond.
