Rayssa Leal finishes fourth at the skateboarding world championships in São Paulo
Brazilian skater Rayssa Leal placed fourth at the Skateboarding World Championships held in São Paulo, falling short of the podium despite a strong performance.
Rayssa Leal, an 18-year-old Brazilian skateboarder, competed in the Skateboarding World Championships held at the Cândido Portinari park in São Paulo, finishing in fourth place. Despite her strong efforts, she could not secure a podium finish, falling behind Japanese skaters Ibuki Matsumoto, Nanami Onishi, and Coco Yoshizawa, who took the top three spots. This event marked a significant competition in the sport, showcasing talent on an international level.
The championship features two stages in its final round: the first involves individual performances along the skateboarding course, while the second focuses on the best tricks executed on a specified obstacle. On this occasion, the latter challenge was set on a stairway with railings and edges over more than ten steps. Rayssa started off well in the first round but unfortunately experienced a fall during a key maneuver, which severely impacted her overall score and chances of reaching the podium.
Despite her earlier setback, Rayssa regrouped and returned for the second round, successfully executing all the tricks she had originally planned. However, her scores remained insufficient for a higher placement. Rayssa’s performance exemplified the competitiveness of the event and highlighted the emerging talent in Brazilian skateboarding, as she aims for future successes in upcoming competitions.
