Women from towns and nationalities were recognized for their diverse roles in their territories
Women from various communities in Ecuador were honored for their contributions to their territories on International Women's Day.
On the occasion of International Women's Day, a significant event took place in Guayaquil where outstanding women, including community leaders, artisans, farmers, educators, and entrepreneurs, were recognized for their daily contributions that strengthen their territories and preserve ancestral knowledge. This event was organized by the Secretary of Management and Development of Peoples and Nationalities and was attended by women from various regions of Ecuador, highlighting the participation of Afro-Ecuadorian, montuvia, and indigenous women from the Sierra and Amazon regions.
The gathering featured representatives from different nationalities such as kichwa, shuar, achuar, tsáchila, and wao, in addition to women from towns like panzaleo, kañari, karanki, salasaka, otavalo, and chibuleo. These women traveled long distances to participate in the event, emphasizing their commitment to their communities. The event not only recognized their contributions but also fostered a sense of unity and collaboration among diverse women from various backgrounds across Ecuador.
