An unusual weather phenomenon is coming to Europe - this is how it will appear in Finland

An unusual weather phenomenon involving Sahara sand may reach Finland, affecting the color of snow and impacting sunsets.

A unique meteorological event is set to occur over Europe, with the potential for Sahara sand to be transported by winds into Finland during the coming weekend and next week. Meteorologist Hannu Valta from the Finnish Meteorological Institute explains that a current influx of cold air into Morocco and Northern Sahara is generating strong winds capable of lifting fine particles of sand into the atmosphere.

While it is unlikely that the sand can be seen with the naked eye in Finland, it might mix with falling snow, causing a yellowish tint in the snow, a phenomenon seen in the past under similar conditions. The sand particles can be transported at altitudes of 1 to 2 kilometers due to strong winds, making their journey from Africa to Finland plausible, albeit still uncertain.

If the Sahara sand reaches Finland, it would not only alter the appearance of the snow but also enhance the color of sunrises and sunsets, giving them a distinctive reddish tone. These types of weather phenomena are rare in Finland and provide an interesting example of global weather patterns affecting local climates, showcasing the interconnectedness of our atmosphere.
