Levadia and Kalju Earn Wins in the Season's First Match
Levadia and Kalju have both secured victories in the opening matches of the Estonian Premium League season.
In the first round of the Estonian Premium League, Levadia and Nõmme Kalju FC emerged victorious in their respective matches on Sunday. Levadia, who finished second last season, secured a commanding win over FC Kuressaare with a score of 2-0 at the Sportland Arena, with Bubacarr Tambedou scoring the opener in the 17th minute and Maksimilian Skvortsov converting a penalty to seal the game in the 82nd minute.
Meanwhile, Nõmme Kalju FC, playing away at Tartu Coop Stadium, claimed a narrow victory, also by a score of 1-0, thanks to Nikita Ivanov’s penalty in the 17th minute. The matchday saw no draws; all five matches concluded with a decisive winner, including a strong performance from last season's champion, Tallinna FC Flora, who won 3-0 against FC Nõmme United, taking an early lead in the standings.
The Premium League season kicked off without any drawn matches, reflecting a competitive start for the teams involved. As the league continues with its next round scheduled for March 14, fans are keenly anticipating upcoming clashes, including a featured match between FC Flora and other top-tier teams scheduled for March 15 on ERR's sports portal and ETV2 channel.
