Joint Exercise of Greece-Cyprus with the participation of the frigate 'Kimón' (Video)

A bilateral search and rescue exercise between Greece and Cyprus, named 'SALAMIS-01/26', was conducted today involving Greece's frigate 'Kimón' and helicopters from both countries.

Today, Greece and Cyprus held a bilateral exercise focused on Search and Rescue (SAR), known as 'SALAMIS-01/26'. This exercise took place within the jurisdiction of the Republic of Cyprus's Search and Rescue Area, featuring Greece's frigate 'Kimón', a helicopter from the 460th Search and Rescue Squadron of the National Guard, and another helicopter from the Air Operations Unit of the Police.

The conduct of the exercise was coordinated by the Larnaca Rescue Coordination Center in collaboration with the Hellenic National Defense General Staff and the General Staff of the National Guard of Cyprus. This exercise is part of an existing Intergovernmental SAR Agreement between Cyprus and Greece, which activates its provisions during such exercises to enhance the provided SAR services in the Eastern Mediterranean.

The exercise underscores the ongoing cooperation between Greece and Cyprus in defense and emergency response capabilities, reflecting their commitment to enhancing regional stability and security through joint military preparedness in the face of potential maritime emergencies in the area.
