Body of the man who had been missing since Friday found in a river in Barcelona
The body of a man, who disappeared after being swept away in his van, has been located in the Mogent River in Llinars del Vallès, Barcelona.
On Sunday midday, the Bombers de la Generalitat announced that they had discovered the body of a man in the Mogent River in Llinars del Vallès, Barcelona. This search was initiated following an incident on Friday when the man was dragged away by the river's current in his van. The body was found about 400 meters from the vehicle's last known location, which had been carried downstream approximately 2.4 kilometers.
The decrease in the river's flow and the reduced water level greatly aided the search and rescue efforts on that day. As search teams intensified their efforts along the riverbank, at 11:34 AM, a team spotted the body amid the vegetation along a bend in the river. This discovery prompted the Bombers to notify the Mossos d'Esquadra, who are now engaged in an investigation involving forensic police and legal authorities to recover and identify the body.
This incident has raised concerns about safety and emergency response during adverse weather conditions, given that the man was swept away due to the river's heightened current, illustrating the dangers that can arise when driving near flooded areas. Further investigations will likely focus on assessing the circumstances that led to the incident and ensuring appropriate measures are taken to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
