Harsh news for those who installed solar panels

Scanoffice warns solar panel owners about risks associated with solar panel installations on roofs.

Scanoffice, a company that imports solar electricity products, has issued a warning to those who have installed solar panels regarding a significant risk concerning the roofs of their buildings. While solar panels were installed extensively across Europe even before the COVID-19 pandemic, the energy crisis of 2022-2023 further accelerated this growth. With the first large waves of installations now being several years old, a surprisingly common issue has emerged: the mounting systems of these solar panels can impose excessive loads on flat roofs. Heavy ballasts, which are concrete weights used to keep solar panels in place, along with the load on the roofing material itself, can lead to sagging, water pooling, and even damage to the roof over time as noted on Scanoffice's website.
