Klæbo best again – defeated the competitors in the 10-kilometer race in Lahti
Johannes Høsflot Klæbo secured his tenth consecutive victory in the 10-kilometer race in Lahti, moving closer to clinching all World Cup titles in cross-country skiing.
Johannes Høsflot Klæbo continued his dominance in cross-country skiing by winning his tenth straight race in the 10-kilometer distance at Lahti. His outstanding performance underscores his strong form as the World Cup circuit nears its conclusion, demonstrating that he is a formidable competitor this season. On Sunday, Klæbo finished with a remarkable lead over his teammate Martin Løwstrøm Nyenget, who trailed significantly by 22.1 seconds.
The 10-kilometer race was conducted in classic style with interval starts, and Klæbo showcased his prowess early on with impressive split times. Although Russian skier Savelij Korostelev began with a strong opening, it wasn't long before Klæbo took control, continually posting the fastest times throughout the race. This victory marked Klæbo's 111th individual win in the World Cup, further widening his lead over the second-placed Harald Østberg Amundsen in the overall standings.
With this victory, Klæbo is well-positioned to secure the overall title, as he has already effectively clinched the sprint cup and holds a firm lead in the distance cup as well. Looking ahead, he could potentially finalize his series of victories in the upcoming sprint in Drammen on Thursday, solidifying his reputation as a dominant force in the sport.
