Fortune turned away from R. Micevičius in the quarterfinals
Lithuanian athlete R. Micevičius faced challenges in the quarterfinals of a snowboarding competition, finishing in third place and narrowly missing qualification for the semifinals.
In a competitive quarterfinal round involving Lithuanian snowboarder R. Micevičius, Italian favorite Emanuel Perathoner and Canadian Alex Massie were the main rivals. Micevičius started strongly but, after a misstep at the first obstacle, fell to third place. Despite a valiant effort to gain time, he encountered an unfortunate collision with Massie’s snowboard, further affecting his position. Micevičius finished the race trailing Massie by 0.64 seconds, which short of the required top two spots necessary for semifinal qualification.
Although Micevičius' journey in the quarterfinals ended in disappointment, it is not the end of his Paralympic campaign. He is scheduled to compete in the Pakalniai slalom races on March 14, which will provide him with another opportunity to showcase his skills and potentially secure a better placement.
