Here, young people from all over the country compete in AI and coding

The AI-Olympiad in Sweden brings together high school students from across the country to compete in artificial intelligence challenges, with the final held this year on Öland.

The AI-Olympiad is a national competition focused on artificial intelligence for high school students in Sweden. This year, the competition saw participants qualify through an online qualifying round held over the course of a month, after which the top candidates advanced to the final match. Annie Karheiding, an 18-year-old from Gothenburg, expressed her enthusiasm for participating in these science sport events, stating how exciting she finds them.

The finals took place on Öland, running from 10 AM to 6 PM, where the best high school student in AI will be crowned. The top four competitors in this final round will form a national team set to represent Sweden in the international AI-Olympiad, as well as European and World Championships. This year marks the second iteration of the Swedish AI-Olympiad, organized by Kodsport Sverige, a non-profit organization that aims to foster interest in IT and technology among young people in Sweden.

The choice of Öland as the location for the finals is highlighted in the accompanying video, indicating a strategic decision likely to promote local engagement with the event. The increasing interest in tech and coding among youth is part of a broader trend in Sweden, which reflects the nation’s commitment to remaining at the forefront of technological education and innovation.
