Volodymyr Zelenskyy talks about Russian attacks over the past week
President Zelenskyy reports on significant Russian drone and missile attacks on Ukraine, highlighting the need for enhanced air defense.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has disclosed that over the past week, Russia has launched a staggering 1,750 drones in attacks against Ukraine. Alongside these drone attacks, Russian forces also deployed 1,530 guided aerial bombs and 39 missiles. Zelenskyy expressed that the majority of these attacks were successfully neutralized but emphasized the ongoing threat posed by such assaults, particularly from aerial fronts.
During his address, President Zelenskyy underscored the urgent need for enhanced military protection, specifically air defense systems. He mentioned his discussions with European partners on March 8, advocating for the acceleration of military aid under the PURL initiative, which is aimed at strengthening Ukraine's defensive capabilities. Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to those who continue to support Ukraine amidst ongoing aggression.
Moreover, the president reiterated the necessity of imposing stricter sanctions on Russia and its allies, stressing that any financial support enabling Russia to sustain its military efforts must be impeded. This statement comes in light of past attacks, including a notable strike with Iskander-M ballistic missiles and numerous unmanned aerial vehicles aimed at Ukrainian targets, showcased the persistent and escalating nature of the conflict in the region.
