The incident happened around 2:30 PM on the county road between Isen and Langdorf, where the overtaking driver, aged 58, failed to notice an oncoming vehicle during his maneuver. This collision left the driver of the oncoming car with severe injuries requiring airlift to the hospital, while the perpetrator sustained moderate injuries.
Following the accident, the police conducted a breathalyzer test on the 58-year-old, who exhibited an alcohol smell, revealing a blood alcohol content of 0.38%. The authorities noted that, despite this being below the legal limit of 0.5%, driving under any influence after an accident can result in legal action, reinforcing the point that road safety regulations must be adhered to at all times.
