Bahia Justice announces app that allows women victims of violence to request urgent protective measures

The Bahia Court of Justice announced an app for women to quickly request urgent protective measures against domestic violence.

The Bahia Court of Justice (TJ-BA) has launched a new mobile application aimed at helping women who are victims of domestic violence to request urgent protective measures efficiently. Set to go live on March 9, just after International Women's Day, the app named TJBA Zela will be accessible on both iOS and Android platforms. This initiative seeks to improve the response time and accessibility for women in dangerous situations, allowing them to take immediate action against their aggressors.

Through the TJBA Zela app, users can report their assailants and upload relevant evidence such as videos, photos, screenshots, and audio recordings that could support their case in court. Once a woman submits a request for protective measures through the app, judges are mandated by law to assess the request within 48 hours, expediting the process significantly compared to traditional methods. This rapid response feature is crucial in emergency situations where time is of the essence.

In addition to the protective measure requests, the app includes an emergency button that immediately connects users to the Military Police by dialing 190, ensuring that users can access immediate assistance when their safety is at risk. The implementing of the TJBA Zela app marks a significant step in leveraging technology to combat domestic violence and provide support to those in need, demonstrating the commitment of the Bahia judiciary to take serious measures against this pressing issue.
