Fake recognition shown to extort hefty fees! Students' future at stake, school chairman arrested
The chairman of Educrest International School in Gurugram has been arrested for fraudulently claiming CBSE recognition, putting students' futures in jeopardy.
The Gurugram police have taken significant action against a fraud syndicate in the education sector by arresting Vinay Kataria, the chairman of Educrest International School located in Sector 9B. This arrest stems from allegations that the school misled students and their parents by falsely claiming recognition from the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and displaying a fake registration number. The police's crackdown came following a complaint from the parent of a 10th-grade student who was charged hefty fees for building funds, computer fees, and examination fees but was ultimately denied an admit card for board examinations due to the school's fraudulent practices.
In response to the severity of the case, the Gurugram police have assigned a crime unit to investigate the matter further, intensifying their efforts to apprehend other accomplices involved in the fraudulent operations. This timely action is crucial, as it not only addresses the immediate concerns regarding the school's practices but also seeks to protect the futures of the affected students. The crime unit's operation led to the chairman's arrest on March 6, 2026, at Bilaspur Chowk as part of their broader investigation into educational fraud.
This incident highlights the alarming issue of educational fraud in India, where institutions may take advantage of parents' hopes for their children's futures. As investigations continue, it raises questions about the regulatory oversight of private schools and reinforces the need for stricter measures to protect students and families from exploitative practices.
