Attention to Dog Owners: Checking Compliance with Regulations

A preventive action in Palanga aimed at dog owners ensured compliance with rules concerning pet management and responsibility in public areas.

On Wednesday morning, a preventive initiative titled "Let’s Be Orderly and Responsible While Walking Our Pets" took place in the public places of Palanga. The awareness of dog owners was monitored for two hours from 7 AM to 9 AM, where inspectors visited residential areas in the resort town, including streets like Sodų, Taikos, and Bangų, as well as the vicinity of J. Basanavičius Street. Discussions and checks were carried out to ascertain if pet owners adhered to the necessary regulations regarding the care and management of their dogs.

During the checks, a total of 17 dog owners were encountered, most of whom demonstrated responsibility by carrying bags for their pets' waste. However, there were notable instances where dogs were involved in playful behavior that suggested a few owners may have neglected their pets momentarily. Another inspection team moved to the Šventoji area, engaging with seven more pet owners to further ensure adherence to local pet care regulations.

Residents were provided with specially prepared informational brochures containing vital details about pet care responsibilities along with free waste collection bags for dog owners. These brochures were distributed not only on the streets but also left at medical institutions and schools to raise awareness within the community about responsible pet ownership.
