Serious accident in Bamble – three out of four critically injured
A serious boating accident in Bamble left three of the four individuals involved critically injured after their small boat began to take on water.
In the early hours of the morning, emergency services were alerted to an incident in Bamble when a loud noise was reported in the Nustad area. Upon arrival, the police initiated a rescue operation and deployed police dogs to track the situation down to Sandvika, where shouts for help were heard. The operation quickly transitioned into a rescue mission involving various emergency services, including divers, fireboats, rescue vessels, and helicopters, highlighting the urgency of the situation.
Four individuals had attempted to navigate a small boat in Sandvika, but the vessel began taking on water, leading to a dire situation. While two of the occupants managed to swim to safety, the other two remained on board. The emergency response teams quickly mobilized to rescue those still in the water. The gravity of the incident was underscored when it was reported that three of the four individuals were critically injured, with the fourth sustaining moderate injuries.
One individual was airlifted to the University Hospital of Oslo, while the other three were transported to a local hospital to receive medical attention.
