Palestinian Health Ministry: Two Palestinians Shot Dead by Settlers in a Village North of Ramallah

Two Palestinians were shot dead by settlers in Abu-Falah village near Ramallah, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.

The Palestinian Health Ministry reported that two Palestinians, Thair Farouk Hamail, aged 24, and Farah Judat Hamail, aged 57, were shot and killed by Israeli settlers in the village of Abu-Falah, located north of Ramallah. Eyewitness accounts suggest that armed settlers invaded the village, prompting local residents to confront them during the incident. The victims suffered head injuries, and reports indicate that more than seven others were injured during this violent encounter, including four with gunshot wounds, necessitating medical evacuation.

The confrontation escalated in the early hours, approximately at 2:00 AM, when masked individuals were recorded entering the village carrying clubs. Reports from the scene indicate the arrival of Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) around 40 minutes later, where tear gas was reportedly deployed from military vehicles towards the villagers. This incident underscores the prevailing tensions in the region as violence in areas controlled by settlers continues to escalate and poses significant safety concerns for Palestinian residents.

Earlier on the same day, the Palestinian Authority announced the death of Amir Shanran, aged 27, due to gunfire from settlers in the Wadi al-Rahim area in southern Hebron. His brother, Khaled Shanran, was severely injured in the same incident, which allegedly took place while settlers were grazing livestock on private Palestinian land. Security sources indicated that the shooter was a reserve soldier, and an investigation has been initiated by military police. These repeated incidents reflect ongoing violence and complex legal and moral issues surrounding Israeli settlement activities in Palestinian territories, drawing attention from international human rights organizations and local activists.
