Women advance in the labor market, but continue to be more affected by unemployment and low salaries

While women's participation in the labor market has improved, they still face significant challenges with higher unemployment rates and lower wages compared to men.

In recent years, women's participation in the labor market in Brazil has increased, but disparities with men remain pronounced. Despite achieving a historic low in overall unemployment, women still experience higher unemployment rates, with the latest data from IBGE showing a rate of 6.2% among women compared to 4.2% for men. Additionally, only about 52.8% of women of working age are part of the labor force compared to 72% of men, highlighting a persistent gender gap in employment.
