Support for President Droupadi Murmu, targeted Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee

Vice President CP Radhakrishnan criticized the low attendance at President Murmu's event in West Bengal and expressed disappointment over the absence of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Vice President CP Radhakrishnan expressed his disappointment regarding the shortcomings observed at President Droupadi Murmu's community event held near Bagdogra Airport in West Bengal. He emphasized that the position of the President should receive the dignity and respect it deserves at all times. During the event, President Murmu pointed out her disappointment with the low turnout and questioned the decision to move the venue from Bidhannagar, indicating that the lack of attendance was not befitting for such a dignified occasion.

The President's program was initially set to take place in Fansideva but was relocated due to security protocols to a less accessible site near Uttaran Township, a few kilometers from the original location. Radhakrishnan, using social media platform X, asserted that the office of the President is the highest constitutional position in the republic, and it should always be afforded the appropriate level of dignity, protocol, and respect. He called attention to the absence of key political figures, including Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her ministers, making the event feel less significant in terms of political representation.

The critique directed at Mamata Banerjee and the broader implications of political attendance at such events highlight ongoing tensions between the state's leadership and the central government. This incident not only raises questions about political protocol but also sheds light on the relationship dynamics between the West Bengal government and the central authorities, potentially influencing public perception and political discourse in the region.
