Jørn Eggum leaves Fellesforbundet

Former leader Jørn Eggum has confirmed his departure from Fellesforbundet, following previous controversies, and remains a proud member of the organization.

Jørn Eggum, the former leader of Fellesforbundet, has officially confirmed his departure from the organization, as reported by VG, which broke the news. In a text message to VG, Eggum stated that he has reached an agreement with Fellesforbundet and emphasized his continued pride in being a member of Fellesforbundet Sogn og Fjordane and Gulen Arbeiderparti. His departure follows his resignation from the leadership role in June last year amidst revelations of a past sexual relationship with former union leader Merethe Solberg.

Bettina Thorvik, the communications chief of Fellesforbundet, has also confirmed Eggum's departure to NRK, stating that the decision came after mutual agreement between Eggum and the union. Thorvik expressed gratitude for Eggum’s contributions to their members and expressed well wishes for his future endeavors. This departure marks a significant change in leadership and could have implications for the union's future direction and governance.

Eggum's initial resignation as the leader last June was in response to controversies, including the revelation of his prior sexual relationship with Solberg, who had served as the leader of department 10 in Fellesforbundet. Her subsequent removal from leadership in January has drawn attention to the leadership dynamics within the organization. As Jørn Eggum moves on, the future of Fellesforbundet remains to be seen, especially regarding leadership changes and organizational strategies going forward.
